I'm unsure as to who you are, and I know this comment is older, but I wanted you to know that I appreciate your comments. It has helped put more light into the person that I don't want to be, and the person I want to become. May Allah reward you for helping the students at mti. ameen

(By life issues, I mean that I've had to go to their houses in the wee morning hours because their father's were hitting them in the head with screwdrivers. Some of them had to come stay with me for a while, because of their parents abuse, during which time they didn't have many changes of clothes. Please pray for the school, that everyone will realize that that there's more going on with these children than what they see in a few passing minutes.)

Assalamu'alaikum,

If this is the Umm Layth I think it is, I would like to say I greatly respect the path you have put yourself on. I know you from MTI, during which time, all I ever knew about you was how much you complained about the students and spread some fitnah about them. I didn't want to go into details at the same, but each one of those students which were touted to 'reveal their tight jeans when around the boys' (they actually had no intention of this -- they were just playing kickball) have a lot of life issues going on at home, and needed to be accepted by Muslims instead of beat on by them, as some of their parents do. This is why the administration would speak to them about clothes, but not go crazy over it.

Anyway, I'm making du'a for you. Please return the favor for me. Insha'Allah, we will all remember that following Islam is a CHOICE that Allah swt has blessed us with, so if we want to help others, it's best to do so by encouraging, not blaming.

JazakhAllah khair

Asalamu Alaikum,
While I understand your stance on wanting to stop blogging, I cannot say I agree with it. Sister, there are many websites out there that serve no purpose other than to assist mankind in their sinful nature. However, sites from sincere Muslims are far and few between. You're right that there is no room for our opinions when it comes to Islam, but there is nothing wrong with sharing pearls of wisdom from the fuqaha to those who may not have access to them. As I told another blogger, do not be concerned about popularity, stats or even having to be regular in posting. Write when you have something of worth to say. Write when you've learned something that has changed you. Perhaps it will change another and you will be rewarded by Allah subhana wa ta'ala for making the wisdom available to them. I, myself, share something when I feel it will be beneficial to others. If I'm reading works of the scholars and I see something that makes me smile or even tear up a bit, rest assured it will be posted in hope that others are as moved as I. So, in closing, I say don't let all the foolishness the net win. Many Muslims stop writing and thus stop inspiring while the sinful remain strong and show no signs of fatigue. Something to think about. May Allah bless you and yours and polish your hearts to a shine that reflect His Majesty.
Wasalam,

I haven't visited your blog in quite sometime because I'd been away for a while, it was a beneficial and interesting one. May Allah subhanna wa tá'ala give you ajar in what you do and keep you and your family safe. Ameen.

Salam Umm Layth, jazaki Allahu khair for what you did write. I know how hard it is to blog with a new baby and other kids to care for. And it's summer too. So why waste it on the net? But you don't have to just 'END' it, but rather take a break. Whenever you are guided to write, write. If all of us who have blogs with a *purpose* ended our blogs, what would be left? I just feel like i need to contribute somehow to the Muslim community, but with 3 kids under 6, blogging is the only way i can. But as they get older and i am not so glued to the house i fully intend to end my blog and help out in my community. It is a sacrifice for sure. And sometimes it does seem like a waste of time, but that is due to our own weakness of getting sidetracked from our main goals.
God Bless.

Umm Layth,

So sad that this is the end of your blog. I really enjoyed your insightful opinions and true devotion to the faith. Al hamdu le Allah that He guided me to your blog, and that He put you in my way. I'd love it if you could contribute to the project that we discussed.

May Allah bless you and help you in all your efforts, ameen.

Subhanallah i thought i was one of the few who felt the way you do, which is why i stopped blogging on my blog, inshallah your time away will be benefical for you and your akhirah which is our ultimate goal, because nothing in this duniyah is worth risking our akhirah

AssalaamuAlaykum, sister Umm Layth,
May I say how sorry I truly am to see you stop blogging? Yours is one of the few blogs that gives me calm reflections on Islamic principles. Seeing it disappear is going to create a huge void in regular blog-reading habits.

May Allah be with you, and may He make your life a success in everything you have and will undertake, ameen!
