Sabado Gigante! That was my saving grace while on a student exchange to Cuernavaca, Mexico. The family I was placed with was horrid; they were a bunch of googling machismo testosterone fools and I could not do anything in the house except retreat to my little room and watch Sabado Gigante. I learned quite a bit of Spanish from it in the process!

[...] Omg, Umm Layth actually tagged me! *blush* *feels lump in throat* No, like seriously. I’m actually touched! Man, that’s one weird thing already - moved by simply being tagged. And lookie, that was a pun in itself too! :P Heh, anyway, I doubt I’ll get through to #10 with an impressively radical list but I shall try my best to complete it, insha Allah.
Salaam 'Alaikum

//prepared videos and stuff so they could send it to a program called Sabado Gigante//

::: dying ::: Don Francisco!! The crazy little ads they used to do for laundry detergent! Traveling Camera! I still sometimes say "Sabado ... Gigante ... Sensacional!" Even my husband knows Don Fernando, and he's an Arab (albeit one from NYC).

///(BTW: If someone knows where I can get a white abaya and a white khimaar to go with my white niqaab, please let me know!)///

I think you can get this from al Mujalbaba.com... I just saw multi-colored niqabs (headband style and elastic style) and abayas online the other day and I'm pretty sure it was her site.

I just bust out laughing when I read about your folks trying to put you on Sabado Gigante. I always used to feel sorry for those kids on the show. I can't imagine what it must be like for them to be thrusted into spot light for entertainment.

Asalaamu alaikum.

See, you did have fun!

#6 - so true! I love that too. #8 - one of my worst habits too.

On the white abaya/khimar, well, it just isn't so common for Muslim women to wear white out so it is very rare to find. Algeria is one of the rare Muslim countries where white for women is not only acceptable but common, so maybe you could try getting something from there? Otherwise, maybe you can pick out the fabric you want and pay a talented sister to make it exclusively for you. But if you are wearing a matchy-matchy abaya and khimar, adding a white niqaab isn't un-matchy because white and black go with everything! Which is why I mostly wear black niqaabs even though I do have a couple other colors.
