Heartwarming `Eid

`Eid for me isn’t what I wish it was. After leaving my hometown and moving twice I have had a hard time enjoying `eid. Many times I have been told that `eid is wonderful overseas and I am sure it is but I haven’t experienced it and so it is just hearsay for me. This is Layth’s 3rd `eid but really his first that he will recognize and probably the first he will remember, insha’Allaah. We want to make it really special for him and I am trying to come up with as many ideas as I can. Some ideas I have been thinking about are decorations, sweets, gifts, special activities etc… for a party.
I was thinking about putting up balloons, streamers, making my own chain streamers, making candy bags, nice tempting sweets etc… I want to think of ideas for food to cook that kids love. I was thinking pizza, barbeque, etc… and I wanted help with some activity ideas as well. [I was a kid not long ago but still I guess my imagination isn't so great now]
If you have any ideas please do share. We live in america and christmas is always made great and I would like to atleast make it great for a kid and masha’Allaah kids are very simple and a few balloons and a cake would do the trick but we (me and my husband) would like to go all out, bi’ithnillaah. : )

Well if he likes Rice Krispies Treats I suggest you make your own and decorate them. Or make `Eid cookies?
Anyway, I’m not really feeling the typical `Eid spirit this year, so I too am trying to think of ways to at least make it fun for the kids around here…insha’Allah. Time’s running out..

Kids love activities. You could possibly have musical chairs (with nasheeds instead). It’s probably too cold for water balloons, so that’s out. Oh, you should buy those sparkle thingys (like the ones I gave Layth last year) and light them up at night time. That should be like the last thing of the party.
Or you could just come here again. lol

Jazaakum Allaahu khairan and `Eid Mubaarak. Insha’Allaah we will be spending `eid with my husband’s family (they have 5 kids) and insha’Allaah his grandfather, cousins etc will be arriving from Saudi and Canada.
I loved the idea of rice krispies treats, as well as my idea of cupcakes (can’t go wrong there). Insha’Allaah we will be doing some cool stuff like breaking a pinata etc…
I hope all of you have a blessed `eid. Don’t forget the Muslimeen in your ad`iyah
